With over 25 years as a museum director, curator, County Museum Officer and consultant, David has a proven track-record in leading and supporting a wide range of museums and programmes.

Experienced and resilient, David has an in-depth knowledge of the many issues facing museums and heritage organisations in an age of rapid change. David is recognised for his passion, enthusiasm and strategic leadership.

An experienced fundraiser, David has raised £2.4 million from a wide range of funders, including the Heritage Lottery Fund, major grant giving charities and local and central government.

He has led, advised and worked with and within museums of all sizes, including volunteer-run, accredited community museums to large regional museums and the Tank Museum. David is especially experienced in working with museum’s specialising in social, rural, military and scientific collections.

David was awarded a BA (Hons) in History by the University of Hallam, Sheffield, a PGCE from the University of Huddersfield and an MA in Economic and Social History by the University of Sheffield. He holds a post-graduate museums qualification from the University of Leicester and has completed the Museum’s Leadership Programme.
